The National Private Duty Association (NPDA) is the nation's first association for providers of private duty home care, which includes non-medical home care services.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Nursing Home Quality Initiative 
The Nursing Home Quality Initiative started as a six state public reporting pilot beginning in April 2002. CMS now publishes quality information on nursing homes in every state. The program helps make people aware of how performance differs across nursing homes. The quality information is used by Medicare beneficiaries to make placement decisions as well as by homes to improve the quality of care.

Missouri Coalition for Quality Care
This site provides legislative activity affecting elder care issues in the state of Missouri, and also provides information on complaints filed against state nursing homes. The organization sponsoring this site is a non-for-profit group interested in reducing the occurrence of neglect and abuse in Missouri nursing homes.
Committee on Government Reform - Minority Office. U.S. House of Representatives
Contains a link "Nursing Home Complaint Violation Search" at the far top right of the page which allows you to search for surveys based on complaints filed by families, etc. This site naturally compliments the annual survey site as it provides a more complete picture of the activities and care provided in the facility.

Administration on Aging
The Administration on Aging (AOA) strives to offer services and opportunities for older Americans, especially those at risk of losing their independence. AOA is the federal advocate agency for older persons and their concerns. In this role, AOA works to heighten awareness among other federal agencies, organizations, groups and the public about the valuable contributions that older Americans make to the nation, and alerts them to the needs of vulnerable older people. Through information, referral and outreach efforts at the community level, AOA seeks to educate older people and their care givers about the benefits and services available to them. AOA works closely with its nationwide network of regional offices, state and local agencies on aging to plan, coordinate and develop services that meet the unique needs of individual older persons and their care givers. The Administration on Aging collaborates with federal agencies, national organizations and representatives of business to ensure that, whenever possible, their programs and resources are targeted to the elderly and coordinated with those of the network on aging.

National Citizen's Coalition for Nursing Home Reform
This coalition includes consumers and advocates who define and achieve quality for people with long-term care needs. This site contains publications on senior care, membership, family involvement, citizen groups, updates, state ombudsmen, ombudsmen resource center, and also contains action alert regarding changes in federal, state and local laws affecting care of the elderly.
United States Senate Special Committee on Aging
This key Senate Committee is responsible for investigating the state of elder care in America. The site provides a What's New section; committee members; jurisdiction; committee events; newsroom; legislative information; publications; sites of interest; internship information; and a fraud hotline.
Senior Citizens Bureau and National Coalition for Elder Care Reform
The National Coalition for Elder Care Reform (NCECR) is a national, non-profit professional association for the senior industry supporting education, research, advocacy and services for seniors.

The National Guidelines Clearinghouse is an Internet Web site providing evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related abstract, summary and comparison materials widely available to health care professionals. The National Guidelines Clearinghouse is operated by the US Department of Health and Human Services, American Medical Association, and the American Association of Healthcare Professionals. The Agency for Healthcare Policy Research operates and maintains the NGC pursuant to statutory mandates (1) to support research designed to improve the quality of health care, reduce its cost, and broaden access to essential services and (2) to develop and disseminate evidence-based information to increase the scientific knowledge needed to enhance patient and clinical decision-making, improve health care quality and promote efficiency in the organization of public and private systems of health care delivery. Site is primarily for health care professionals. The NGC database contains evidence-based clinical practice guidelines as defined by the Institute of Medicine.

When I'm 64: Aging in America
As the senior population continues to grow, so do incidents of physical and mental abuse on the elderly. The number of investigated cases has increased 10 percent over the last 10 years...meaning that one out of every eight senior citizens is being abused. As INFOHIO's/ 90.3's Yolanda Perdomo reports, that number may be just the tip of the iceberg, because many older adults refuse to make their voices heard.
