Required Resident Services

According to the Nursing Home Reform Act, nursing homes must provide certain services for their residents and must also follow strict standards for these services. Required services include:

  • Designing comprehensive care plan designed specifically around the needs of each resident
  • Meeting federal standards of quality when involved with social services
  • Meeting federal standards of quality when providing dietary services
  • Meeting federal standards of quality when providing pharmaceutical drug services
  • Meeting federal standards of quality when providing rehabilitation services
  • Employing a full-time social worker if the nursing home has more than 120 beds
  • Periodically assessing each resident
  • Maintaining standardized quality of nursing services
